Here’s some tips to plan a successful retreat:

Tip 1: Set the tone with an inspiring theme. Choose a theme that helps establish what you wish the outcome of the event to be but remember to create excitement and anticipation.

Tip 2: Select your site with care. Choose a site that reflects your theme and is located away from the day-to-day surroundings.

Tip 3: Involve others in the planning process. Put together a planning team for the retreat.

Tip 4: Design the sequence of events with great care. The key to a successful retreat is planning the activities to get the most out of and give the most to the participants.

Tip 5: Balance Energy, Enterprise and Entertainment. Stimulate interest and get involvement by using a full range of activities, both mental and physical.

Tip 6: Allow enough time to process, discuss and apply. Allow enough time between each activity for discussion, learning and application back to the organization.

Well-designed and delivered retreats can lead to better understanding, clearer alignment, encourage teamwork and provides much stronger motivation for all people involved. Remember, organizing a retreat takes patience and is a big responsibility. Use these tips to make your future retreat a success.
