Sometimes introducing new foods to children takes time. So, keep in mind that your child may not want to try new foods right away. It is normal for children to reject foods they have never tried before so be patient.
Here are some tips to encourage children to try new
Tip 1: Small portions, big benefits – Let your children try small portions of new foods that you enjoy. Give them a small taste at first and be patient with them throughout this process. Also, allow the children to serve themselves in small portions. Tell them they can get more if they are still hungry.
Tip 2: Offer only one new food at a time – Serve something that you know your child likes along with the new food. Offering more new foods all at once could be too much for your child.
Tip 3: Be a good role model – Try new foods yourself. Describe their taste, texture, and smell to your child. Remember, children learn from watching you. Eat fruits and veggies regularly and your child will too.
Tip 4: Offer new foods first – Your child is most hungry at the start of a meal so make sure to offer the new foods first.
Children don’t always take to new foods right away. Offer new foods many times. It may take up to a dozen tries for a child to accept a new food. Hopefully, these tips will help. Stay encouraged and good luck!
