Even though college can be a pivotal time in the lives of many people, that experience isn’t one most Americans actually share. According to the Census Bureau, last year just over a third of Americans 25 or older had completed a bachelor’s degree program or more.

Here are some tips for finding employment without a bachelor’s degree:

• Attend a local community college for a two-year associate’s degree
• Network with friends or family to discuss employment options
• Search for employment online using sites, such as Zip Recruiter and Indeed
• Search for employment via the target company’s website
• Take a resume writing course or workshop
• Attend employment workshops and job fairs
• Register with employment agencies in your area
• Highlight your knowledge of specific industries or specialized fields

Since the main reason for not going the college route to pursue a bachelor’s degree is that college remains an unaffordable goal for many people, it is important to learn other marketable skills so you can find quality employment.
