Resilience to Endure Life's Challenges

Resilience is defined as being able to adapt to lifeís misfortunes and setbacks. Now, letís think about that for a moment. When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart? Resilience gives you inner strength that helps you rebound from a setback or challenge rather quickly which allows you to keep functioning through life.

Hereís some helpful tips to help you become more resilient:

Tip 1: Get connected. Itís important to build strong and positive relationships with family and friends. These relationships can provide you with much needed support and acceptance when you are experiencing lifeís challenges.

Tip 2: Make every day meaningful. Do something that gives you a sense of accomplishment and purpose every day. Set goals to help you look toward the future with meaning.

Tip 3: Learn from experience. Think about how youíve coped with hardships in the past. Consider your skills and strategies that helped you through. Write about your experiences in a journal so you can reflect on your written thoughts later.

Tip 4: Remain hopeful. You cannot change the past, but you can look toward the future. Accepting change makes it easier to adapt and view new challenges with less anxiety.

Tip 5: Take care of yourself. Make sure to tend to your own needs and feelings. Participate in activities and hobbies you enjoy. Include physical activity in your daily routine and eat a healthy diet.

Tip 6: Be proactive. Donít ignore your problems. Instead, figure out what needs to be done, make a detailed plan and take immediate action.
