How to Begin a Walking Exercise Program

As with any form of physical activity, get approval from your doctor, then start off slowly with small goals and build up gradually. Try to aim for at least one 30-minute walk per day.

Here are some tips to help you begin a walking exercise program:

Tip 1: Before you set off, make sure you do some warm-up stretching which will improve your stride and pace.

Tip 2: Assume a straight posture shoulders down, back straight.

Tip 3: Breathe deeply.

Tip 4: Set a brisk pace You should feel warm and slightly breathless. You can alternate your pace between fast and moderate.

Tip 5: Try different routes and lengths of walks.

Tip 6: Ease back to a slower pace for the end of the walk to cool down.

Remember, incorporate these tips into your daily walking routine and plan longer fun walks on the weekend.
