Overeating (1)
It’s that time of the year when people choose to eat healthier and make fitness a priority in their lives. However, some people struggle with overeating throughout the year which causes lack of progress with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Did you know that overeating is used as a coping mechanism for most people? Yes, unfortunately, some people are influenced by both positive and negative emotions. For example, celebrations, boredom, loneliness or frustration. People choose food to comfort themselves or to celebrate. Then, the negative outcome is weight gain and a decrease in confidence.

Here’s some tips to help end the dreadful cycle of overeating:

• Tip 1 – Focus on portion control by creating your own snack packs with snack-size resealable bags in advance of leaving the house.

• Tip 2 – Practice mindful eating techniques, such as eating slowly, eating in a quiet environment with no distractions, and sitting down to enjoy your meal.

• Tip 3 – Train your mind to think about your health and wellness goals throughout your day until they become second nature. Then, you will begin to make smart food choices on a regular basis.

• Tip 4 – Try to establish a lifestyle with minimal stress whenever possible. Find other ways to combat stress, such as exercising, going for a walk, enjoying a fun activity, or reading a good book.

Many people make changes to their diet and exercise habits so they will become healthier. It is important to become knowledgeable and aware about overeating and practicing other ways to control it. Then, you will have a game plan to overcome the overeating obstacle and live the healthiest lifestyle possible.
